FNQ beer is a patriot in a can
Last week, Kennedy MP Bob Katter represented FNQ’s own Copperlode Brewing Co at the Federal Crossbenchers Christmas Party, sharing with his parliamentary colleagues the craft brewer’s aptly named River Lizard Lager.

Copperlode has a range that includes the mid-strength River Lizard Lager, the full-strength Red Dust Draught, the Double Plugger XPA (a prerequisite to consumption being double pluggers to ensure steady footing), and the Five Knot Fever Pale Ale.
When questioned on the inspiration for the pale ale’s name, Mr Hind responded, “It comes from a classic North Queensland saying – when it’s five knots out on the reef, no one can blame you for pulling a sickie, and nothing pairs better with a cheeky fishing trip than the Copperlode pale ale.
“We craft it with a bouquet of tropical hops and Australian malt, and this beer tastes better than a day in the office.”
Mr Katter said he enjoyed any opportunity to “show off” the many great North Queenslander entrepreneurs and producers on the federal stage.
“North Queensland is rich in resources, and when I say that I don’t just mean in the ground and the water, but in the hearts of the people who want to make this nation a great place to live and do business.” Mr Katter said.
“This delicious nectar is clearly freedom in a can,” Mr Katter joked.
Mr Katter shared his definition of patriotism in a poetic chant:
“KAP is brave and bold,
Fight the fight and never grow old,
KAP is brave and bold,
Australia’s never gonna be sold.”
