Katter fights for fair representation in the north
Katter hosts public meeting to fight for fair representation
SAVE OUR NORTHERN REPRESENTATION!
Malanda to Mount Isa — more than 1,000 kilometres apart — and yet under the new changes, both towns find themselves in the same electorate. It is absurd. These communities have different needs, different industries and different challenges.
Bob Katter is fighting to save it - and to make sure these communities aren’t lumped together by bureaucrats who don’t understand the distances involved.
At a public meeting held in Malanda in May, Bob listened to hundreds of locals voice their concerns about losing their state representation.
As the federal member, Bob is required to work closely with state counterparts, but when there is an electorate bigger than the state of Victoria, being managed by one person at both federal and state levels, there is a problem. How is that fair?
